How a Fun Sport Turned Fatal For Phil Hughes

The shocking death of Phil Hughes just days before the popular Australia cricketer would have turned 26, has left the sports world wondering one thing: How could this happen?
Hughes was wearing a helmet, but in a freak combination of circumstances, his head was turned away from the ball as it bounced up to him.
The ball came up below his helmet, outside his face guard, hitting him in a sensitive part of the neck. It smashed the critical vertebral artery, which carries blood from the heart up into the head.
"That caused the artery to split and for bleeding to go up into the brain," Australian team doctor Peter Bruckner said. "And he had a massive bleed into his brain."

Jordin Sparks Tears Into Jason Derulo

A lot of us liked them together so we were disappointed at their split back in September.
It seems however that Sparks is the aggrieved one as she takes the form of a mixtape, "#BYEFELICIA," featuring "How Bout Now (Remix)" ... it's a Drake song reworked to rip Derulo.

"Member I deleted all my other guys numbers on my phone for you.
Member when you broke your neck and I had to wash your back for you.
You probably don't remember half the shit that i did for you."

And it goes on ...

"Once you blew up, head got big and you started changing.
Can't believe all the things that you started saying.
Like I'm with you for your fame and your name. What?"

The couple split back in September after a 3-year romance. After the split Jason trashed Jordin, saying she was pressuring him to marry her.

Angelina Jolie May Give Up Acting

Hollywood A-lister Angelina Jolie says she plans to give up acting after a "few more" films and switch her focus to directing.
Jolie walked the red carpet in Sydney with husband Brad Pitt this week at the premiere of her new movie, World War II epic "Unbroken", which was filmed in Australia.
It was her second foray behind the camera after the critically-acclaimed 2011 "In the Land of Blood and Honey" and she said directing was now her passion and where she saw the future.
"I'll do a few more, but I'll be happy to let that all go at some point," she told the Sydney Morning Herald of acting, in comments published online Thursday.
"I love directing, I'm much happier directing," added the 39-year-old.

Irate Youths Burn Suspected Boko Haram Member In Gombe

SOURCE:Channels News
A man suspected to be a member of the Boko Haram sect has been lynched at the Central Motor Park in Gombe, the Gombe State capital on Wednesday, while attempting to blow up the area with a bomb.
Reports say the suspect, who was in possession of a black bag, was seen waiting suspiciously  to enter the state-run Gombe Transport Line.
Vigilantes in the area upon noticing his movement approached him and tried to make him open his black bag but he refused and instead detonated the bomb that was in his bag, injuring himself in the process.
An angry crowd immediately gathered around the man, piled tires on him, doused him with gasoline and burnt him to death.
This incident is coming barely three weeks after a triple bomb explosions at a bus station left scores of people dead in the north eastern city.
The Nigeria Police Force confirmed the death of seven persons the attack while the Nigeria Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) put the death toll at nine.
Hospital sources and eyewitness accounts, however, put the figure between 24 and 30 adding that about 37 people sustained injuries, during the blast which occurred at the Gombe Transport Services Limited Terminal in the State capital.

Beauty Queen And Sister Killed

Tears and anger poured out for  19-year-old Maria Jose Alvarado, and her sister Sofia, 23, who were shot and killed last week by sister's boyfriend in a fit of jealousy over his girlfriend dancing with another man.
The beauty queen was to have flown to London on Wednesday to represent Honduras at the Miss World pageant.
Dozens of relatives and friends of the beauty queen gathered for a candlelight vigil at the college she attended, remembering a down-to-earth young woman who aspired to be a diplomat, went out without makeup and worked as a model to help support a humble family.
The bodies believed to be the sisters were found buried near the spa where they disappeared a week earlier while celebrating the birthday of the sister's boyfriend, Plutarco Ruiz.
At some point during the night of Nov. 13, a heated argument broke out over the sister dancing with another man and Ruiz pulled a gun, firing first at his girlfriend and then at Alvarado as she tried to flee.
Both sisters were laid to rest today.

Nigerian Army Retakes Chibok

Nigeria's army says it has recaptured the northeastern town of Chibok from Boko Haram militants who claimed to have seized it Thursday, six months after the rebels abducted hundreds of schoolgirls from the city.
Nigerian army spokesman Brig. Gen. Olajide Olaleye told the Associated Press that "Chibok is firmly in the hands of the Nigerian army."
The news that the town has been recaptured follow reports on Saturday that Chibok had been captured by Boko Haram
The AP notes:
"Chibok is an enclave of mainly Christian families, some involved in translating the Bible into local languages, in the mainly Muslim north of Nigeria.
"Although the army has regained control of Chibok, Boko Haram still holds several towns and cities in an area covering an estimated 20,000 square kilometers (7,700 square miles) where the insurgents have declared an Islamic caliphate, along the lines of the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria. The extremists fly the black and white flag of al-Qaida and establish a strict version of Shariah law, publicly amputating the hands of alleged looters and whipping people for infractions such as smoking cigarettes."
